WIKIPEDIA New York News Brooklyn 5 20 2016During this Training the Trainers: Intensive Wikipedia Training Edit-a-thon, AfroCROWD goes deeper in its training. We will have experienced Wikipedia Coaches on hand to teach you how to edit Wikipedia as well as more focused training on how to make your articles stick.

We will focus the session on some of the harder topics like navigating Wikipedia’s editing features, adding photos and infoboxes, notability, research and how to handle disappearing articles. You won’t want to miss it!

It’s free and there will be food and drinks. All languages and levels are welcome, come as you are. We will have laptops but feel free to bring your own. Feel free to bring friends.

This media showcase of work by youth under the age of 20 celebrates talented young media makers who are telling stories through short films, documentaries, and animations. Produced and curated by a group of media-savvy Brooklyn high school students as part of the BRIC Youth Media Internship Program….

 

We are excited to announce that BRIC is presenting its 3rd annual Brooklyn Youth Media Festival!

Concrete Stories is focused on unique stories that have been overlooked, created by youth under 21. Submissions can include but are not limited to short films, documentaries, music videos, and animations.

This is a chance to have your work showcased at BRIC House, one of the leading presenters of free cultural programming in New York City, alongside other Brooklyn media makers.

Did Cop Go Too Far? CBS New York video

An NYPD officer was caught on camera punching a man and pointing a gun at bystanders, and some witnesses believe his actions were excessive.

As CBS2’s Valerie Castro reported, the NYPD said the officer – seen on video pointing his gun at onlookers while he tries to arrest a suspect – is now on modified assignment while the department investigates… Pinkerton saw what police sources said was the takedown of a man wanted for possessing an illegal dirt bike. It happened Thursday afternoon at the housing development at 480 St. Nicholas Ave. in Harlem…
