It was announced today that the mayor spent $102 million on hotel rooms for the homeless in year 2016 — a ridiculous practice started under de Blasio. Simply shoving the homeless into these hotel rooms is not a solution and does NOTHING to address the mental health issues they may have.

I’ve already identified common sense and practical measures to address the homeless crisis in NYC – this involves providing shelter in properties that the city is currently paying utilities on and providing for the best mental health counselors that NYC has to offer. Real solutions that address the mental health needs of this population and provides for the immediate shelter they deserve.”
