Pride Month 2019 marks Stonewall’s 50th anniversary

The biggest LGBTQ event histoty ?
If it’s Pride Month… But this year, the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising that fueled the fire for a global LGBTQ movement, there’s also a lot more. From symposiums to movie screenings, walking tours to art exhibits, and even an opera, a slew of institutions and organizations are filling June with events that commemorate that moment and its impact through the past five decades, and also using it as inspiration for the current generation of activists to keep pushing for civil rights. Greenwich Film Festival honors Boys and Girls Club leader

The head of a local Boys and Girls Club is being honored during the 2019 Greenwich International Film Festival.
Bobby Walker Jr. has been selected as this year’s Community Changemaker Award recipient….. The club offers affordable after-school programs and summer camps to kids ages 6 and 18. Video ABC7 New York

Two Rainbow flags set on fire at gay bar in Harlem

Saturday marks the kick off to Pride Month and the 60th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, but police in New York City are now investigating a potential hate crime against the LGBTQ community.
Someone reportedly set fire to two rainbow flags flying outside of Alibi Lounge (  2376 Adam Clayton Powell Jr Blvd, New York, NY 10030 ) around 1 a.m. Friday. This is the only gay bar in Harlem — and the only black-owned gay bar in the city. ABC7 New York video
