A Broadway producer with ties to one of the biggest fraud scandals in theatre history faces federal child pornography charges after an early morning raid at his Harlem home Tuesday, law enforcement sources familiar with the case tell News 4. Ben Sprecher was arrested on a criminal complaint issued by the U.S. attorney’s office in Manhattan, the sources said….

LI lawmakers propose anti-hate-symbol education

TEACHING ABOUT HATE SYMBOLS: In the wake of recent vandalism, Senator Todd Kaminsky, Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas and Assemblyman Charles Lavine unveil legislation to help reduce hate crime graffiti and other acts of intolerance. The law would require middle and high school students across New York State to be educated in the hateful meaning of the swastika and noose as symbols of intimidation, fear and intolerance. ????

Teen accused of driving drunk after party, striking 80-year-old pedestrian on Long Island

A teenager is accused of driving drunk after leaving a sleepover and hitting a pedestrian with her car before taking off and causing a second crash. Officials say Christina Burns, 17, slept over at a home on Ashford Drive after attending a house party on Saturday night.

Major milestone for MTA’s OMNY program

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) announces a major milestone for its new, contact-less fare payment system, OMNY. OMNY, which stands for One Metro New York and allows riders to use their cellphones as subway and bus payment methods, was first rolled out in May on select lines.

FDNY Lt. dies from injuries suffered in line of duty

The FDNY is mourning the loss of a firefighter who died in the line of duty. Officials announced that Lieutenant Brian Sullivan suffered a fatal heart attack at his home in Monroe, Orange County, Friday after responding to a kitchen fire in a Bronx apartment during his 24-hour tour of duty.
