Spikes in the coronavirus infection rate in 9 specific ZIP codes in New York City are prompting the governor and mayor to close nearly 100 schools to get the numbers back down. Mayor Bill de Blasio said he plans to move forward with closing nonessential businesses in the nine hot spot ZIP codes as soon as Wednesday, enough though the state told them not to. NY Gov Andrew Cuomo holds a briefing amid talk of shutting down schools and nonessential businesses in NYC’s COVID hotspot zip codes. – The CDC says airborne transmission plays a role in spreading COVID-19 coronavirus. In a post on the CDC website, the agency emphasized “limited, uncommon circumstances” when the virus can spread among people more than 6 feet away or after an infected person left the room.
They say “In these instances, transmission occurred in poorly ventilated and enclosed spaces that often involved activities that caused heavier breathing, like singing or exercise.
