A suspect has been arrested in the murder of a mother of three in Queens. 31-year-old Issam Elabbar, of Corona, has been charged with the murder of Bertha Arriaga. . Elabbar was brought out of the NYPD’s 115th precinct in a wheelchair and taken away in an ambulance Saturday. Police said he broke his leg before the arrest and complained of pain while being questioned.
A mother of three is dead, her body found by her 14-year-old son, after a bullet went through her apartment window and struck her in the neck early Wednesday morning. It happened around 12:47 a.m., as the family was sleeping inside their third-floor apartment on 34th Avenue in Jackson Heights. The victim’s son woke up to the sound of the crashing window, and he ran into the room and found his mother on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head. A 17-year-old reputed gang member is under arrest, accused of firing the shots that killed a college professor who was walking his dog in broad daylight in Queens. The shooting happened just after 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, in the vicinity of the Queensbridge Houses and was believed to be part of ongoing dispute between gang rivals. George Rosa, a graphics/art teacher at CUNY Hostos Community College, was struck in the torso near the intersection of 22nd Street and 40th Avenue in Long Island City and rushed to Elmhurst Hospital. Despite at least one surgery and fighting for his life for 31 days, Rosa died Tuesday, August 26, as a result of the gunshot wound. Eyewitness News ABC7NY video.

August 4 2020 – ASTORIA, Queens: A vehicle was crushed by a huge tree on 23rd Ave and 28th street in Astoria. Neighbors were shocked that the tree fell. “it was a beautiful tree,” said Ellen, a neighbor. Another resident, Manny, said the tree just barely missed his car, which was seen just next to one of the covered vehicles.
