Trailer hauling livestock crashes on Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge

A crash involving a tanker and a trailer containing livestock has shut down the Brooklyn-bound upper level of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. It happened around 4:30 a.m. Thursday. Video from NewsCopter 7 showed an extensive crash scene. A pickup truck, which was towing a trailer containing livestock, rear-ended a tanker hauling dry cement that was stopped in the right lanes. No serious injuries were reported. But the pickup truck sustained heavy damage and spilled some fuel. Eyewitness News is told some livestock may have escaped from the trailer and got loose on the highway as well.

What a Staten Island mom saw on her surveillance camera this month probably has her wanting to put up “curb your human” signs.
Resident Andrea Rosenblum tells the Staten Island Advance that she saw poop on the street right outside her home in Eltingville on July 13 and assumed it belonged to a dog. Her husband picked up the feces but the couple got suspicious when more poop showed up a few days later.

Rockaway Warriors Weekend

The Rockaway Warriors Weekend got underway on Thursday. The 16th annual event honors true American heroes… People lined the streets of Belle Harbor in Queens for the Hero’s Welcome Parade that began in Staten Island.
After the parade, a huge banquet was held for the honored guests. The event honors men and women from all branches of the armed services and is sponsored by numerous organizations, including the NYPD and FDNY.
