I had an Alexa in my house for a few weeks, then I looked into it. Wished I had looked into it sooner and saved the money. More people should give thought to the fact that they’re filling their lives with surveillance equipment. It sounds paranoid until you realize it’s always listening, literally everything you say is heard. One of the weirdest things to happen to me was when my shop got inspected, I needed a GFCI outlet and was talking about it to someone on the phone to ask if they had one to save me a trip to the store. I’ve never searched for things like that, I’m already well aware of how to install them. Guess what I got served up as soon as I got home and sat down at my PC… go on…. I understand how some people think it’s convenient to have ads directed at the things you’re interested in, but they completely ignore how they know what you need. These devices, and anything that tracks you really, are way too invasive and there’s zero chance they won’t inevitably be used in the wrong way. I mean it’s not like our government hasn’t been caught red handed spying on us before right? It’s always under the guise of “protecting” us…
