Prior to the passage of the Reproductive Health Act (RHA), New York law banned third-trimester abortions except when necessary to save the life of a pregnant woman.
Before the RHA was passed, New York law required that abortions be performed only by licensed physicians. (NY State new Abortion Law )
January 22, 2019 – Albany – Governor Cuomo today fulfilled his promise to sign into law the Reproductive Health Act, a key component of the 2019 Justice Agenda, within the first 30 days of the new legislative session.
