Referring to family separations at the border, Michelle said of American citizens:
“They watch in horror as children are torn from their families and thrown into cages.”
What she conveniently failed to mention is that those cages were built by her husband and with the same purpose that the Trump Administration used them.
The Associated Press, which is largely held to be the flagship example of objective journalism, called out Michelle saying that her point was “distorted”

“Michelle Obama assailed President Donald Trump on Monday for ripping migrant children from their parents and throwing them into cages, picking up on a frequent and distorted point made widely by Democrats.
The AP continued to mention Michelle’s amnesia when it came to who created the cages…
The same report alluded to another AP story from 2018 when images of children in “cages” at the border created a hailstorm of rhetorical fury towards the Trump administration. Problem was, as exposed by the AP report, the images were from 2014 during the Obama administration:
