Facebook is going in hard on the surveillance-for-hire industry ( Spy-For-Hire), banning six companies and another mysterious Chinese law enforcement supplier from its platforms, removing hundreds of accounts linked to the organizations, and warning 50,000 people it believes have been targeted by them.
The spyware businesses have also been sent cease and desist letters, and Meta has shared information with law enforcement agencies across the world.
