Inside a Ukrainian Cold War-era bomb shelter now prepared for Russian invasion

In March and April 2021, Russia started to mass thousands of military personnel and equipment near its border with Ukraine, representing the highest force mobilization since the country’s annexation of Crimea in 2014. This precipitated an international crisis and generated concerns over a potential invasion. In February 2022, following warnings from Western nations that a Russian invasion could be near, more than a dozen countries have encouraged their nationals to flee Ukraine. The United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany are among the countries that have advised their citizens to leave.
