New York City students ages 2 though 4 will no longer be required to wear masks in schools and child care settings starting April 4.
The Mayor actions follow rallies and protests from angry parents.
“All the data shows that a triple vaxed adults is significantly more at risk than an unvaccinated child. And these are extremely important years of their lives. You’re giving them social, emotional, developmental issues — for what benefit?” parent Jessica Scherben said at a rally Sunday.
“Children under 5 should be able to breathe and have fresh air, and not stay with masks indoors all day long,” parent Andrea Cornea added.
While now all New York kids will have the option to go maskless, Adams said he’s still not changing the vaccine mandates for New York sports teams. He said Tuesday’s move is as far as he’s willing to go in easing restrictions.
