“Because Secretary Mayorkas has failed to do his job and he won’t do the honorable thing and resign, House Republicans will perform our constitutional duty to the American people by voting to impeach. I believe that if we are serious about getting our borders under control and protecting our communities, impeachment is the necessary response.”

Eight Republican lawmakers voted against the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
These Republicans were Rep. Patrick McHenry (N.C.), Rep. Tom McClintock (Calif.), Rep. Cliff Bentz (Ore.), Rep. Ken Buck (Colo.), Rep. Darrell Issa (Calif.), Rep. John Duarte (Calif.), Rep. Virginia Foxx (N.C.), and Rep. Tom Rice (S.C.). They voted with Democrats to shelve the resolution, which was first introduced by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.).
The resolution accused Mayorkas of “willful admittance of border crossers” and violating the Secure Fence Act, a 2006 law that demands perfection at the border.
The House voted 209-201 to send the impeachment resolution back to the Homeland Security Committee instead of proceeding with a floor vote. (Source: The Hill, Axios, Fox News, CNBC, NBC News)
