The Port Authority is conducting public hearings regarding its Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Bus Terminal Replacement, scheduled from February 20th to 22nd. We strongly encourage you to review the DEIS, attend a hearing, or offer comments. This endeavor will reshape segments of our city, and your input is highly valued.
The McGraw Hill Building (constructed in 1931; 93 years ago), a City and National Historic Landmark, and two mid-19th century Roman Catholic Churches, St. Raphael’s on West 41st Street and Holy Cross on West 42nd Street, will face adverse impacts. Both churches are eligible for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places. All three structures will experience new shadows, necessitating protection from construction-related damage.
We have not yet seen a financial analysis demonstrating that the only way to obtain a new Terminal is through the development of towers.
