Secretary Blinken outlined today April 19 2024 that G7 members remain focused on Gaza and addressing the crisis in the Middle East.
“We urge the rapid implementation of Israel’s humanitarian assistance commitments, more aid, more crossings, better deconfliction, better distribution of the assistance to all who need it. We have seen important steps over the last couple of weeks with more crossings, opening more aid getting in, more aid getting around. But we need to see sustained results and we need in particular to make sure that there is distribution throughout Gaza. We also focused on the imperative of getting to a ceasefire with the release of hostages. Such a ceasefire would facilitate the dramatic expansion of humanitarian assistance and would also let Gazans who have been displaced return to the North. The only thing standing between the ceasefire and Gazan people is Hamas.”
