Trump and Shapiro Visit Gravesite of Lubavitcher Rebbe in Queens
Former President and current Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, alongside conservative commentator Ben Shapiro, visited the Queens gravesite of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Schneerson. The Rebbe, an internationally respected religious leader and moral authority, guided the Chabad Lubavitch movement until his passing in 1994.
The site has previously drawn prominent figures, including New York City Mayor Eric Adams and Argentine President Javier Milei.
In 1978, the U.S. Congress asked President Jimmy Carter to designate Schneerson’s birthday as the national Education Day in the U.S.[15] It has been since commemorated as Education and Sharing Day.[16][17] In 1994, Schneerson was posthumously awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for his “outstanding and lasting contributions toward improvements in world education, morality, and acts of charity”.[18] Schneerson’s resting place attracts both Jews and non-Jews for prayer.[19][20][10][21]
